Put Your Gun-Shoes Back On: Bayonetta 2 Is Coming!

That's right! Everyone's favorite gun-heel toting, hair magic usin' Umbra witch is back! Much to the impotent rage of console fanboys (and boneheaded Kotaku commenters) this Bayonetta is a Wii U exclusive!  There's no hard facts on it yet...besides the fact that it exsists, but still...Bayonetta 2!  Hit the jump for the trailer, which doesn't have any gameplay, or anything much really, except for some gunshots, a blade, and Bayonetta's signature footwear (which is now blue!).

Whoa, a New Wreck-It Ralph Trailer!

...and it has a certain speedy blue hedgehog in it!  After seeing the first trailer probably half a million god darn times (because they play it repeatedly on the TVs at my job) it's pretty refreshing to see some new footage for this great looking Disney flick.  Hit the jump to see it, and get some sad news regarding whether or not the movie will feature any mustachioed plumbers.

Nintendo Announces a New 3DS Model [UPDATE!]

Yup, they said they weren't going to do it, but hey, look at that, a new 3DS model.  It's 90% larger and has cool rounded edges, plus extended battery life.  Apparently it's going to be called the 3DS LL in Japan, which means it's very likely they'll call it the 3DS XL when it comes around here to the 'States.

Stupid Nintendo...you said you wouldn't do this...but I know I'm going to buy this anyway because it's bigger and awesome and I loved my regular DS XL. Darn.

UPDATE: Now that the US version of Nintendo Direct has come and gone, it official!  It's going to be called the 3DS XL, it'll cost $199.99, and is coming out the same day as New Super Mario Bros. 2 which is 8/19.  Make sure your bodies and your wallets are ready.

Check Out This New Super Mario Bros. 2 Trailer If You Can See It Through All The Coins [E3 2012]

Here's the other New Super Mario game, you know, the one not for Wii U.  It's for 3DS.  I know, it's kind of confusing and I don't understand why they would make two such similar products, especially when they want to make the new Wii U stand out.  Strangely enough, I think NSMB2 looks more interesting than the Wii U version.  It has a lot more weird and different things going on, it seems.  I mean why all the coins, what does Golden Mario do?  Actually, if there's such a focus on coins, why not make this a Wario game?  I mean then at least it won't be so easily mistaken for the Wii U version.  Anyways, hit the trailer for the jump... New Super Mario Bros. U Trailer! [E3 2012]

Yup, there was a new Mario announced for the Wii U.  It looks an awful lot (probably too much) like the last New Super Mario Bros. on the Wii.  I'm sure it will be a fantastic game, and they seem to have added some fun new power-ups like baby Yoshis and that flying squirrel suit, but it's not the amazing-looking, mind-blowing looking game that Super Mario Galaxy was when the original Wii was announced.  I just can't seem to get all that excited for it, hell, the New Super Mario Bros. 2 they announced for 3DS seems like it has more interesting things going on for it.  Go ahead and click through to see the Mario action.

Lego City Undercover Trailer! [E3 2012]

I was surprised how great this game looked during Nintendo's E3 presentation!  It looks both fun and funny with some great lines from the characters and for once some different gameplay in comparison to all the existing Lego titles.  It'll be interesting to see if a Lego game can maintain its wit and charm without an existing movie license.  Hopefully this leads to more games based on exsisting Lego themes, because a open-world Elder Scrolls style game in Lego's Castle universe would be spectacular.  Anyways, hit the jump for the trailer!  The little Mario nod at the end is priceless.

Mario Tennis Open (3DS) [Review]

Mario's been in a lot of sports games, from baseball to soccer, even basketball (with Final Fantasy characters!).  Out of all the sports though, the one he seems to come back to the most is tennis (with golf in a close second).  From Mario's Tennis on the poor old Virtual Boy to New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis on the Wii there's been a lot of friggin' tennis titles featuring the Italian plumber.  Why not add one more to the pile with Mario Tennis Open for 3DS?

The Top Five Worst Mario Games Not On Nintendo Systems

So today I was minding my own business reading This Week in Business on Kotaku when I saw a particular quote that really rustled my jimmies.

"Nintendo has to let Mario games on non-Nintendo devices."—Nanako Imazu, Tokyo stock analyst, talking about what Nintendo has to do to reverse its massive loss for last year.

Now anybody who's know anything about Nintendo's practices knows this guy is a total idiot.  Not only has Nintendo said that the day Nintendo games show up on other devices is the day Nintendo ceases to be Nintendo, there are a few Mario games that aren't on a Nintendo system and boy are they terrible.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 Announced for 3DS!!! [UPDATE!]

This time some hot news flows forth from Nintendo of America's twitter account:

Mario fans get excited b/c New Super Mario Bros. 2 is launching for Nintendo #3DS in August!

All the info we have is this tweet and a blurry screenshot, but I'm already immensely excited.  Looks like the raccoon tail is coming back (not the tanooki suit like in 3D Land, just the regular raccoon tail!), there's the flying P-meter from SMB3 and those weird rectangular platforms from 3 as well!  It's no secret that Super Mario Bros. 3 is my favorite Mario game (nay, my favorite game, period) so the more they pull from Mario's 3rd outing the better, in my opinion.  August is pretty close too!  Sweet!

Nintendo Celebrates Kirby's 20th With Special Wii Disc

Straight from the horse's mouth (Nintendo's Facebook Page, anyways):

We’re thrilled to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Kirby by releasing a special Wii disc featuring all your favorite Kirby games this year!

They weren't specific on what games will be included, but if it's all my personal favorites, then there better be Kirby's Super Star. Just about all of Kirby's back catalog is pretty awesome though, so I'm sure it will be a disc worth picking up.  I wonder what kind of special features it will have in store (if any)?  More info as it comes!

New Mario Tennis Open Trailer Makes Me Want It

Before I saw the video of Mario Tennis Open that Nintendo released today I couldn't of been more not interested in it.  Every previous clip Nintendo has pushed out just showed Mario n' pals playing some boring no-frills video game tennis, which is something I could do by shoving Mario Power Tennis for Gamecube into my Wii.  This video, though, shows there's a whole lot more going on. Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS) [Review]

 

Ok, so it's that same "a franchise you loved is back" spiel that I've had to go through for like the last buh-zillion reviews, but this time it's different because it's freaking KID ICARUS!  I mean our main man angel hero Pit hasn't been seen since his rarely mentioned Gameboy outing in 1991, Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters. That was 21 freaking years ago!  Not only that, but the original story (or lore, or mythos) of the original game are so abstract and obtuse that it's practically like a brand new franchise!  Sure, it's got the main KI heavy hitters, Pit, Palutena, and Medusa the Queen of the Underworld, but from that base Nintendo had room to introduce a whole stable of really cool new characters and ideas that make it an entirely different game that somehow still feels like it belongs with the other two Kid Icaruses.

All The Kid Icarus AR Cards So Far!

I can't wait to try these suckers out when the game comes out March 23rd!  I've heard there are some play control issues, but overall it's a fun experience.  I'll let you all know if it's worth the $39.99 you gotta plunk down for it when I review it, sometime soon!

Mario Party 9 (Wii) [Review]

Ah, Mario Party, everyone's favorite board game/video game hybrid from the days when a N64 with 4 controllers was where it was at.  After everybody was done playing Goldeneye someone would suggest Mario Party, the others would begrudgingly agree, (as long as it's no more than 20 turns!) everyone would crack a Mountain Dew to keep the caffeine high up, then hurt their hands spinning the control stick with their palms (Mario Party Stigmata).

That was then (junior high school) though, this is now (old, in college too long).  Nine Mario Parties later does it hold up? Maybe if you replace the Mountain Dew with alcohol.
