Phoenix Wright Returns for Ace Attorney 5! Check Out These Screenshots!

You may or may not have heard, but a 5th installment of the Ace Attorney series for the 3DS is in the works. Awesome, right? It has already been confirmed that it is being released here in America! Can it get any better? Yes it can! These screenshots show everyone's favorite pointy-haired attorney back in the courtroom.  Also, no more flat 2d images! It is animated in all glorious three dimensions! I bet his objection pointing finger will be extra objection-y in 3d.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 (3DS) [Review] (UPDATE!)

 



Hey, it's new Mario game time.  I don't think I need to tell you I was pretty excited for this game, I'm a pretty big Mario fan.  Not enough to be blind to when I'm having recycled crap shoved in my face though.  So does New Super Mario Bros. 2 bring enough "New" to the table to warrant its existence, or is it like I mentioned before, Nintendo shoveling recycled crap in our collective faces?

Theatrhythm Final Fantasy [Review] (3DS)

Final Fantasy is a series known for many things, one of them being its bombastically epic music.  It only makes sense that Square-Enix would leverage FF's vast musical history to make a rhythm game.  The real question is though, in this post-Rock Band/Guitar Hero world does anyone really want to play a music game-- and would a Final Fantasy music game really appeal to anyone who isn't a huge FF fan-person?

Nintendo Announces a New 3DS Model [UPDATE!]

Yup, they said they weren't going to do it, but hey, look at that, a new 3DS model.  It's 90% larger and has cool rounded edges, plus extended battery life.  Apparently it's going to be called the 3DS LL in Japan, which means it's very likely they'll call it the 3DS XL when it comes around here to the 'States.

Stupid Nintendo...you said you wouldn't do this...but I know I'm going to buy this anyway because it's bigger and awesome and I loved my regular DS XL. Darn.

UPDATE: Now that the US version of Nintendo Direct has come and gone, it official!  It's going to be called the 3DS XL, it'll cost $199.99, and is coming out the same day as New Super Mario Bros. 2 which is 8/19.  Make sure your bodies and your wallets are ready.

Check Out This New Super Mario Bros. 2 Trailer If You Can See It Through All The Coins [E3 2012]

Here's the other New Super Mario game, you know, the one not for Wii U.  It's for 3DS.  I know, it's kind of confusing and I don't understand why they would make two such similar products, especially when they want to make the new Wii U stand out.  Strangely enough, I think NSMB2 looks more interesting than the Wii U version.  It has a lot more weird and different things going on, it seems.  I mean why all the coins, what does Golden Mario do?  Actually, if there's such a focus on coins, why not make this a Wario game?  I mean then at least it won't be so easily mistaken for the Wii U version.  Anyways, hit the trailer for the jump... I mean the jump for the trailer.  You know, like usual.

Mario Tennis Open (3DS) [Review]

Mario's been in a lot of sports games, from baseball to soccer, even basketball (with Final Fantasy characters!).  Out of all the sports though, the one he seems to come back to the most is tennis (with golf in a close second).  From Mario's Tennis on the poor old Virtual Boy to New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis on the Wii there's been a lot of friggin' tennis titles featuring the Italian plumber.  Why not add one more to the pile with Mario Tennis Open for 3DS?

Adventure Time Game for 3DS Offically Announced!

Although its been known for awhile that Adventure Time series creator Pendleton Ward has been working with awesome game developer Wayforward on a for-real Adventure Time game, there hasn't really been any official announcements of any kind or a game title or anything.  Well, now we have both.  The game has the (long and awkward, but appropriate) title Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd you steal our garbage!?  The Ice King has apparently stolen Finn and Jake's garbage in order to build a "garbage princess" that of course our two intrepid young heroes will have to rescue.  As for screens or any details other than the above box art, well, you're out of luck.  This is all the game's publisher D3 Publisher (publishers of such classic games like Ben 10: Galactic Racing and iCarly: Groovy Foodie) has released at this time.  A screenshot or just like, a paragraph describing the game's gameplay would be nice! If I were designing this game, I think I'd go for something very Zelda-like, but who knows what way Pen Ward and Wayforward will take it.  With a franchise like Adventure Time there's really no end to the video game opportunities.

Peep On These New Animal Crossing Screens! [UPDATE!]

The news from tonight's Nintendo Direct just keeps on storming in, this time with 2 (not one, two) screenshots from the new Animal Crossing title in the works for 3DS.  This has no official US release date yet, but I'd bet millions we'll see it stateside.  Hit the jump for the two screens-- wish there was more pics and more info, but this is all there is for now.  I'm sure we will know all about this game when E3 rolls around.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 Announced for 3DS!!! [UPDATE!]

This time some hot news flows forth from Nintendo of America's twitter account:

Mario fans get excited b/c New Super Mario Bros. 2 is launching for Nintendo #3DS in August!

All the info we have is this tweet and a blurry screenshot, but I'm already immensely excited.  Looks like the raccoon tail is coming back (not the tanooki suit like in 3D Land, just the regular raccoon tail!), there's the flying P-meter from SMB3 and those weird rectangular platforms from 3 as well!  It's no secret that Super Mario Bros. 3 is my favorite Mario game (nay, my favorite game, period) so the more they pull from Mario's 3rd outing the better, in my opinion.  August is pretty close too!  Sweet!

New Mario Tennis Open Trailer Makes Me Want It

Before I saw the video of Mario Tennis Open that Nintendo released today I couldn't of been more not interested in it.  Every previous clip Nintendo has pushed out just showed Mario n' pals playing some boring no-frills video game tennis, which is something I could do by shoving Mario Power Tennis for Gamecube into my Wii.  This video, though, shows there's a whole lot more going on. Kid Icarus: Uprising (3DS) [Review]

 

Ok, so it's that same "a franchise you loved is back" spiel that I've had to go through for like the last buh-zillion reviews, but this time it's different because it's freaking KID ICARUS!  I mean our main man angel hero Pit hasn't been seen since his rarely mentioned Gameboy outing in 1991, Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters. That was 21 freaking years ago!  Not only that, but the original story (or lore, or mythos) of the original game are so abstract and obtuse that it's practically like a brand new franchise!  Sure, it's got the main KI heavy hitters, Pit, Palutena, and Medusa the Queen of the Underworld, but from that base Nintendo had room to introduce a whole stable of really cool new characters and ideas that make it an entirely different game that somehow still feels like it belongs with the other two Kid Icaruses.

Kid Icarus Trading Card Scans From GDC!

Tiny Cartridge just uploaded some scans of exclusive Kid Icarus AR Cards you can only get at GDC!  These cards will (when the game comes out) unlock weapons for Pit to use, or monsters for use in the still unseen AR Battle mode! Hit the jump for the rest!

Donkey Kong for 3DS Spotted In the Wild?

A forum user on DKVine.com manged to snap a pic of Donkey Kong 3D available for preorder at their local EB Games.  Now, being that Nintendo hasn't officially announced anything DK-related for 3DS (yet) this is interesting.  Does EB Games know something we don't know, or is it just them trying to get your preorder money for a game that doesn't even exist?  My bet's on the latter, but hey, a Donkey Kong game on a Nintendo platform is pretty much inevitable.

New Kid Icarus Video Shows Off Some Pretty Rad Stuff

Every time I see another video for Kid Icarus: Uprising it makes me that much more excited for it.  There's some fun banter between Lady Palutena and Pit, as well as the tons of cool weapons you can collect.  Also: Tempura Wizard! Can't wait.

Is Seaman Making Its Terrifying Return to 3DS?

According to a recent report, freaky manface fish virtual pet simulator, Seaman (which we can only hope plurals to Seamans and not...well you know) may be getting a revival on Nintendo's 3DS.  It is said to be part of a Nintendo plan to revive other company's popular franchises in order to give the 3DS a stronger software catalog.  So if you've wanted to feed and talk to horrifying fish-man hellspawn without hooking your Dreamcast back up, you might just be getting your chance.
