Colossalcon 11 Cosplay Extravaganza

Didn't make it out to Colossalcon 11 in Sandusky, Ohio?  That's okay, neither did I (because I didn't know it was a thing...so maybe next time?) but lucky for us, honorary PXT roving reporter Liz Parlapiano was on the scene!  It looks like it was a great time, and was held at the Kalahari Resort, so if you get bored of looking a hug pillows and PVC figures you can hit up the water park!  Anyways, there was apparently a metric effton of great cosplay, from Touhou to Pokemon to a few you wouldn't expect (Columbia from Rocky Horror? Alright so Microsoft had their humble little press conference this morning and the following quiet announcements whispered by...oh wait did I say humble and quiet? I mean a loud and bombastic explosion of game videos and new stuff, and yes, unfortunately they are still trying to push the Kinect on us.  Does anyone really like it?  Anyway, hit the jump and I'll fill you in on all the news.

Packrat Free Comic Book Day '12 Photo Roundup!

For this year's Free Comic Book Day celebration, your three favorite writers  (as well as Honorary PXT Member Kelli) made the trek down to Packrat Comics in Hilliard, OH. While there we hobnobbed with a few famous folks, checked out some excellent independent comics, played a little poker (for truly terrible comics, naturally) and took A TON of pictures. No More Night Court Theme

April Fools! The site is no longer going to play the theme song to the NBC classic Night Court.  I'm sorry for any suffering my short notice April Fool's Day prank may have caused, even though the theme to Night Court is totally sweet.  To make it up to you, follow the jump for a classic clip.

April Fools Day Hijinks 2012! [UPDATE AGAIN!]

 

Since we here at Pizza Xtreme Team didn't do anything for April Fools, I figured why not point out some of the best pranks and/or jokes (maybe some japes and/or jives as well) other people have unleashed upon the masses on the Day of Fools (do people call it that?).



First up-- and probably the best prank-- is Google Maps for NES! It's a fully functioning NES cart with all the functionality of Google Maps but with Dragon Quest graphics! The voice recognition via the Famicom microphone is a super nerdy nice touch as well.  Think the phone cord into cartridge is outlandish? Then you probably don't remember the XBAND.  The best part about this is that you can actually use Google Maps in 8-bit mode if you go to Google Maps and click the "Quest" button.  If you look around you can find all kinds of familiar Dragon Quest monsters and view extremely low-res Streetview images.  It's pretty cool!
