DC Comics Panel #2 - Batman [SDCC 2012]

The DC train just keeps rolling with their second panel of San Diego Comic Con. The topic of discussion? Batman and his many, many related books, of course!

Batman/The Dark Knight/Detective Comics/Batman Incorporated

  • - The next major arc in will be called "Death of the Family," and will mark the Joker's return to DC as he directly targets Batman and his allies.

  • - Joker will also have a "secret" that will be a major revelation, whatever that means.

  • - The next story arc in The Dark Knight will feature the Scarecrow and will be reminiscent to the recent Penguin: Pain and Prejudice miniseries.

  • - Speaking of the Penguin, he will be appearing within the pages of Detective Comics, written by John Layman (Chew).

  • - Starting with issue #5, Batman Incorporated will take another look at a future where Batman's son and current Robin, Damien, takes over the Bat-mantle. This is a continuation of a story started in Batman #666.

  • - There are plans for the Riddler sometime down the road, so we have that to look forward to, I guess.

Batgirl/Batwoman/Catwoman

  • - Batgirl will battle a Talon assassin as another "Court of Owls" crossover, with Ed Benes taking over art duties. Series writer Gail Simone say , there is "some sort of sparky magic action beauty" to his art... and I would agree.

  • - The next arc in Batwoman will co-star Wonder Woman, and will begin one month before the #0 issues.

  • - Catwoman is getting a new writer. Ann Nocenti will start with issue #0, and in #13 will cross into the "Death of the family" storyline.

The Rest

  • - Tom DeFalco will take over writing duties on Nightwing for two issues before regular writer Kyle Higgins comes back for "Death of the Family."

  • - Red Hood & the Outlaws will take a look at Jason Todd's brief tenure as Robin, and also (re-) introduce the villain Blackfire, Starfire's sister.

  • - The newest edition to the Bat-Family, Talon, will launch in September with a #0 issue, and will follow one of the Court of Owl's former assassins who was able to leave due to his "moral compass."
