The first major DC Comics panel just wrapped up, and for the 99% NOT there in San Diego at the moment, here's a recap of what's going on with DC's 'The Dark' and 'The Edge' subsection of comics...
Swamp Thing/Animal Man/Frankenstein/Justice League Dark
- - Issue #12 of Animal Man will kick off the next story arc , titled "Rotworld," which will take place within the pages of AM, Swamp Thing, and... Frankenstein: Agents of S.H.A.D.E.?
- - Timothy Hunter, previously the star of the miniseries The Books of Magic from Vertigo Comics, will be appearing in Justice League Dark.
- - Amethyst will also be joining JL Dark, and the identity of the character Black Orchid will be revealed soon.
Deathstroke/Grifter
- - Deathstroke's main motivation will be revealed in the upcoming #0 issue of his series.
- - Voodoo, fresh off her cancelled title, will pop up in the pages of Grifter.
All-Star Western
- - Jonah Hex's backstory will also be padded out in his #0 issue, and issue #13 will have Hex take on a murderous circus, which may tie him closer to the Batman family of books via the "Hailey's Circus/Court of Owls" story.
The Rest
- - Dan DiDio's Phantom Stranger is going to be "dark," according to series artist Brent Anderson.
- - The Beowulf backup story inside the new Sword of Sorcery anthology series will be "post-apocalyptic" and comparable to the world of Mad Max and Samurai Jack.
- - Zombies will be appearing in the #0 issue of I, Vampire.
- - When asked about the status of Renee Montoya, formerly the Question and one of DC's more prominent LGBT characters, Senior Vice President of Sales Bob Wayne responded that where weren't any current plans for Montoya, but that we have already seen the 'New 52' version of the Question.
