Hey There! Welcome back to the Geekery. My day job has slowed down since Christmas is over, so I should have time to do this stuff again! Aren't you excited? I know I am! I found some really nifty stuff including some really cool Science and Grammar art prints,  jewelery that might have your favorite real and fictional pop culture icons in silhouette form, and also wooden Adventure Time clocks that you have to see.

adventimeclocks

You'll know when it's Adventure Time with these awesome clocks. These are seriously pretty and look well made. They are made from wood, which is something I haven't seen too much of My favorites are Lumpy Space Princess and Ice King. They aren't just limited to Adventure Time. There are some Doctor Who ones and some super heroes as well.  All of these can be found in the Etsy store, alantronics!

Check out the rest of this lumping stuff after the jump!

Sonic the Hedgehog Fan Film? Yes Please!

Eddie Lebron, director of the amazing MegaMan fanfilm from last year, has recently announced his next major project: Sonic the Hedgehog!
"Sonic" is a non-profit 10-20 minute short fan film based on the "Sonic the Hedgehog" video game franchise that will be available free to download and watch. This short film will implement various elements of the Sonic mythology ranging from the cartoons, comics, and, most importantly, the video games. The film will be a live action piece mainly focusing on the first 3 SEGA Genesis games of the series; in terms of tone, action, and plot. The film will be shot over the course of Fall/Winter 2010 with selective days in early 2011. The shoot will be a 6 day venture at various locations in various conditions. The 5 day shoot will also include special effects photography and aerial filming. There is no formal release date but we hope to have the final product premiere at the 2011 ScrewAttack Gaming Convention and to go online shortly after; however this is not a promise or a guarantee. The film's release will be announced upon completion of the film.

The character of "Sonic the Hedgehog" will be a complete CGI character and the film will be a hybrid of both live action and completely computer generated environments and action sequences. Various familiar enemies from the franchise will be featured and the CGI Sonic has been designed to be as faithful to his original design as possible while adding subtle touches to make the character more detailed.

And who will be playing the titular character? The answer may surprise you...

Hey, You Should Play This #6: Sonic 2 HD Alpha

I'm not even a big Sonic fan and I can totally appreciate this HYSPT game! Some very talented individuals have decided to take it upon themselves to create an HD remake of Sonic 2 and boy does it look nice!  Like mind-blowingly nice!  The animation on the title screen is so good it's almost creepy!  Unfortunately all they have released so far is an Alpha version which only has the first two levels, but they play picture perfect!  Play control, Sonic physics, and everything are spot on identical to the original game, it just has an incredible visual upgrade that you really gotta see.  It's better than every crappy port Sega has has dumped out over the past 5 years put together, probably.  They are definitely doing better at making retro Sonic games than Sega, if Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1 was any indication.

Hit the jump for the download, as usual!
