Sometimes you just want to play a really solid platformer, you know, test your skills you've been honing since Super Mario Bros.-- well, Chaos by Davve is one of those games that is just right for scratching that particular itch.
In Chaos, you play as a young boy named Timmy, tasked with finding tranquility within his own mind. Timmy has apparently been playing a lot of Super Meat Boy because the interiors of his mind look and play an awful lot like that game-- but that is in no way a bad thing! You'll be wall jumping, spike dodging, and climbing your way through each stage to find an Orb of Tranquility. Once you grab it, the level changes from a post-apocalyptic nightmare to a sparkling clean city, which also alters ever so subtly the layout of the stage as well-- then you make your way to the exit to do it all over again in a new stage. It's an interesting setup and the 2 versions of the same world is a neat graphical trick.
The gameplay is just platforming in it's purest form-- there's not even any combat or enemies! You might think that would make the game just a smidge boring, but it really doesn't, the solid play control and good level design keep that from ever happening. It also as a couple extra features (achievements, collectable memory orbs hidden quite deviously in some levels) that keep you from shutting the game off any time soon. Highly recommended!
